What's different this time?

About 3-4 months ago I was toying with the idea of having weight loss surgery.  No one was recommending it, but I felt like I was having weight creep and maybe I should use a tool to help me.  I spoke to a good friend who pointed out I would still have to modify my eating and exercise.  Why not give it a try without the surgery.  He became my accountability partner.  The thing that different is he doesn't judge. He's thin and fit, but doesn't try and push me, if I slack off there isn't OMG you didn't work out guilt trip, and maybe because of that I'm more focused on making it happen.  I've fallen on the wagon, but I "confess" and move on.  It has helped alot.  I try and send him my planned workout and try and complete it during the week.  It's been something I needed.  I've tried other things. Having a one on one person who might not be in my shoes, but is there with a shoulder if needed has been a bit of a game changer. Finding ...

Stay the Course

It's been a bumpy few days Monday I was up to 361.8 Tuesday I was up to 363.0 Wednesday - 360.8 I ate on plan both days and Monday I worked out.  I was discouraged to say the least, but I just stuck to my eating plan. My knee is still a little wonky so I haven't do much, tonight I'll do some strength. I got up this morning I was 360.8.  I was stunned to say the least. What have we learned boys and girls?  It takes 2-4 days for my body to deal with whatever crab I through at it.  Saturday was the rice dish my mother made and Sunday was a hamburger from burger king (and chicken fries and a hershey pie).  Funny how you don't remember all the bad when you're trying to understand why the scale went up.  Day 3 and I'm back on track.  Normally this would be a semi cheat day (orange juice, a bagel), but I reallllllllly want to be in the 350s and life isn't that horrible. With all of this I realized if I was doing dietbet I would be stressing righ...

NSV: Not eating out of emotion/I need a snack/

Down 2.5 lbs. I didn't do anything more than I have been, but it's less stressful and maybe I'm less prone to feel like I want a cheat meal or I want something off my plan. No workout today. I ended up baking some chicken  before it went bad.  I think I'll freeze it for next week. So I had a bit of a falling out with the guy I'm half in love with.  We're not a couple and never will be, but we are something...blah.  Anyway, I was all emotional since I thought he wasn't speaking to me and I started thinking about going out to eat and having my version of comfort food (sushi).  I didn't mostly because work was hectic and by the time I got out I just wanted to go home.  I will say there was a relazation that I'm only wanting to go out to eat to comfort myself with food. I watched a season of the biggest loser while I was doing dietbet and one of the things they focus on was, how did you get this big?  What habits do you have that stop you fr...

Let it Snow

I live in the northeast and today was our first blizzard after not having a real winter.  I think mother nature if making up for lost time. I'm totally ok with that. I finished up my 21 day challenge with no issues.  I was supposed to hangout tonight, which might have been an issue with staying on plan, but since I'm trapped in the house it was east breezy. yay me. My cheat day was another interesting experience.  I had one donut. It tasted good, proud of myself since I was eating 2 or 3 at a time without blinking.  I had sushi for lunch, less than I usually had. Then I was on my way home. I was hungry and it was a cheat day so I had chicken nuggets from Wendy's.  It was that or a hamburger, but the bread would have stuck with me longer than the breading on the nuggets.  Anyway....My stomach was not happy. They seemed super salty and greasy. I kind of enjoyed them, but after about 20 min, it felt like I had an oil slick in my stomach...ugh....

My own Private Biggest Loser

So yesterday I experimented with eating and I'm reminded there is no one size fits all for weight loss.  Yes at the end of the day it calories in vs calories out, but my body does different things from others and something from what I think it will do. Anyway, so I had gained 1.6 lbs in a day after staying on plan.  I ate late in the night, so Thursday I did pretty much the same thing except I didn't eat after 4pm. I usually weight myself as soon as I get up a 4am so that is a solid 12 hours for my body to deal with everything. I had my usual breakfast, tunafish for lunch.  I had a hunger headache again, which I thin is related to my homemade ice coffee. Its made up of 3 cups of coffee.  I think its supressing my appetite and then when it finally wears off all the hunger comes shooting back.  I am going to try and go back to the star bucks stuff I can buy at the super market. I didn't eat lunch till 1 or 2 and then I was ravenous.  The tuna fish took ...

And the Scale Keeps Me on My Toes

So yesterday I hit my dietbet goal. I figured from here on in, it was going to be smooth sailing and as long as I didn't binge I would be ok.  yeah, not so much. Yesterday. I had sort of splurged and had eggs instead of egg white, 2 sausages and toast (i always have toast in the morning, without it, I'm hungry again in a couple of hours and I am not totaly against carbs).  For lunch I had a spinach salad.  at about 4 I was hungry again, but fought agains having a snack pack of oreos. On the way home I realized I was starving and actually got a hunger headache. I didn't do the easy thing and stop at Wendy's for nuggets.  I waited til I got home and had a big bowl of cabbage. I was still kind of hungry so I baked some chicken thighs I had marinating.  I probably finished eating at 10.  I was satisfied, not full. I got on the scale today and went from 362.2 to 363.8.  1.6 lbs up.  I think if I had cheated I would have beaten myself up, but I di...

Pretty Big Milestone

For the first time ever I made my dietbet.com goal. I started at 377.6 and weighed in at 362.2.  I still have 8 days to go, so as long as I don't binge or go out to eat I should be fine.  I am hoping to finish at or below 359 which would be icing on the cake. The weekend will be kind of interesting, but I'm focused.  I wanted to cry.  It's been a while since I really was able to stick to my plan and reach a goal. I have to say I learned alot.  I also did alot of things I have complained about or hate doing. -Got on the scale almost everyday.  The scale is really just a tool now to tell me how I'm doing.  I used to hate it and secretly I wanted to see a big lose so I would weight a week, but getting on everyday or every other day helped me see how certain food or lack of exercise effected(sp?) me.  I knew rice, pasta and potatoes weren't great, but beans, any alcohol and eating out even on plan also are a problem.  Eating out is pretty ...

Getting old

So yesterday was a pretty ok day, It all went down hill when I ate my salad for lunch.  In literally the last year I've become allergic to tree nuts, not peanuts.  I'm not a big nut person in general, but yesterday I had a salad with pesto checking in it.  I got itchy.  My co-worker realized the pesto probably had pine nuts in it. So they gave me some children's benedryl..I think I was better off being slightly itchy.  In fact I'm sure I was better off.  For literally the rest of the day I just couldn't seem to wake up.  I went home and at 9. I just crashed. and that was children's benedryl.  I think I've only felt like that after doing lots of shots at a dive bar.  I might need this for my next party. Anyway I woke up today, with two slightly swollen stiff knees so no workout.  I had done 2 days in a row, so I"m ok with the day off.  Tomorrow instead of whatever my hybrid schedule her I'll do 21 day fix upper fix a...

Still here

So I am back on the wagon, but not quite so obsessed.  I'm get on the scale on  Nov 30.  My only thing i am trying to stick to is not eating out.  No more logging on spark people and I haven't looked at 3fc in more than a week.  I have cooked and have been bringing my lunch.  I am happy.  Because I took a whole week off from working out. I am behind on my min.  So I am scrambling to get it in. Tried out tae bo today. I liked it, but Billy banks makes my head hurt. Also tried the trainers edge, it was ok, but I'm not really up for floor work right now.  I might by the trainers edge for christmas.  We'll see 30 min billbanks 25min trainers edge. Now that I am typing this I am going to do drop it in 30 today. Which would get me down to 175.  We'll see.

Stepping off the wagon

So I got on the scale on the 15 and I was still 349.  I took a week and ate whatever....I didn't over do it except for one day, but I drank, didn't cook, and didn't workout.  By sunday, I really went over...ate a whole package of sausage and then appetizer plater at Fridays.  I was sick the rest of the day.  Also My little aches and pains were starting to come back to here I am.  I worked out this morning and once again my monthly goal has kept my going.  I wish i had something similar when it came to eating.  So I am going to try no eating out till the 15th of december.  No other rules.  No realy weight goal anything lower than 348 would make me happy at this point. 29 min Kendal, 40 min Kendal Weights

Still doing my thing

So I haven't posted in a bit, but I've stayed the course.  I hit my exercise goal kind of early so I kinda of slacked off. I'm back at it this week primarily because of my work out buddy at work.  She mentioned we were supposed to work out and that got me back into the swing of things.  I was thinking I should tell her I don't want to work out anymore, but seems to be a good way to make me accountable.  I've been tracking my calories half heartedly, well mostly carbs and sodium and how much water I am drinking.  My ankles swelled up which surprised me, but I think it was due to my TOM.  I also didn't get on the scale because emotionally I just couldn't deal with seeing the scale go up.  Today was interesting I left my lunch at home and thought oh I can order something now, but I ended up running to a supermarket and picking up a smart one. Which leads me to an article on who the obesity epidemic is caused by ultra processed foods, which I totally b...

Well here here we go.

So I gained a pound.  I can't think I'm eating 3000+ calories as hungry as I am. Also the weird thing is I know I"ll drop it over the weekend I was getting a little upset, but I know I can drop it over the weekend without going through alot. So I've decided to eliminate my eating out at all during the week.  I'll be buying english muffins, lean cuisine, and prepared breakfast for the week and just cooking dinner. I'm a little grumpy, but I can count calories exactly.  I think I am eating too many meals where I am guessing and while they aren't filling me up they must be higher in calories than I think.  I think it also helped ot look back and my old blog entries....again its a work in progress.  I am wondering if the egg white breakfat I buy everyday is the culprit, the margarita, ....hmmm ok so lets think about this I gained 1lb.  so it isn't like I over ate alot.  I think there are things I am eating here and there that are causing the proble...

Well Just call me the energizer bunny

Sundays is get ready for the week day.  Since the last few saturdays I've had something to do I only have Sunday to do some around the house.  I wanted to go shopping,  but I felt that I needed to get somethings done. So I got up, got the laundry together, went to the farmers market, 2 supermarkets, cooked lunch, dinner for the whole week and my roomates lunch as a favor.  THEN I folder and put away most of the clothes.  I have toms rearranging so didn't do everything. Then I was on the phone till a lil after 12 last  night and got up, no snoozing and worked out.  I was fine getting up and getting started  but I stopped to catch my breathe a few times, but I finished. On a related note I just tried the processed maple syrup and it is horrible. Too mushy and I think I can takes the extra chemicals. So I was reading something online about how healthy food is wonderful and great. I thought about the 4 hours I spend in the kitchen yesterday a...

doing ok

12 min Love kenda hogan I did the the 10 min cardio burn, but I had to stream it over the internet so it kept skipping and by the time I figured out the moves...it was almost over so only claiming 6 min of this one, but i liked it alot Then I did the first part of 6 pack abs...which is all standing and actually enough to feel like I did something.  I'll get on the floor for the rest of it on tuesday.  This with my 10 min chris freytag should get me up in the morning. I had alot of bread yesterday.  I forgot my lunch and had a foot long subway sandwish and then a turky on rye and then dinner and 2 puddings. Day one was ok.  I know it was alot of bread, but I did what I wanted ate when I was hungry and I didn't eat any fast food when I got home, came home and had the food I cooked. I wasn't going to count it as my first day of my 14 days on plan, but I'm ok with it.  hanging out today so wil be interested.  I'm going to buy some string cheese to...

My own inspiration

So I read some of my old posts when I first lost weight and realize I'm repeating my same issues with the scale and obsessing.  I also realized I stayed on plan alot better the first time around.  Breakfast was 300cals and I brought it from home.  Lunch was lean cuisine, 2 pieces of fruit and a snack(doubt I keep doing that) and dinner was low cab.  No eating out during the week and if I did it was in moderation and mostly low carb. I haven't been honest.  I don't think I've been doing horrible, but I lose and think its ok.  I was hungry yesterday but I could have come home and had some veggies and the chocolate the other day and the 2 bag of doritoes.  Blah....Blah...Blah I say again.  So I'm going to coast out of the rest of this week. Official weighin is tomorrow.  I'll record that weight and then put up a page of weekly goals.

I will not let the scale control Me

So yesterday once again I just KNEW I had lost like 20 lbs...ok I'm exaggerating, but you get the idea. Anyway so stupidly I got on the scale at night after eating. Bonehead move.  I was 357.  I cried and then at 2 low fat puddings.  Then it occurred to me that in fact I was a bonehead and there should be some kind of loss in the morning. Got up this morning 354 after I worked out 353. I am claming the 353 for today.  So I lost the weight I gained.  I would like it to be more but Happy it isn't higher. So changes for next week.  Making my own breakfast and only 1 piece of bread to go with it.  No more wholefoods.  I think I did ok, but I think I have issues with what they are putting in it. Cooking Brussell Sprouts Collard green Broccoli (for my roommate) Greek Turkey patties Wings (my lunch) some other meat. Next weigh in is Friday.  I am one lb short of my 8lb goal for the month...I am not goign to make next month 9 lbs, just ...

Excuses Excuses

So this weekend was a bust foodwise and I've noticed a patter with myself I'm focused mon-thur and then I make excuses and fall off fri & sat. Then I'm back on track Sun. So the only goal I have right now is to do a straight 14 days on plan. I will say I was focused saturday by I went to a child birthday party where there wasn't really anything healthy to eat and of course I had the high calorie fruit juice instead water. I finally got my period so weigh in day will be friday. Worked out Chris e-tv walkign and her cardio blast 59 min. On an better note I'm only 150 min from my monthly excercise goal. I don't think I've hit my goal in a while so I'm feel good about this.
